Zetlin & De Chiara Senior Partner Ray Mellon will serve as a speaker at the “Matching Existing Buildings to Earlier Codes” program, hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers - ASCE Metropolitan Section on May 7 at Con Edison Headquarters, along with Timothy D. Lynch, PE, Assistant Commissioner for Investigative Engineering Services, NYC Department of Buildings.

The program will cover the complexities of construction within New York City’s dense urban environment. Ray Mellon will discuss the scope of license agreements between adjoining property owners, as well as the legal remedies available when agreements cannot be reached. Timothy Lynch will give a directional review of the 1899, 1938, 1968, 2008 building codes and discuss technical provisions that apply to buildings of past vintages.
