Overview
Hannah Carmel is an associate in Zetlin & De Chiara’s New York office.
Ms. Carmel represents building owners, contractors and construction managers in construction-related litigation and disputes arising from performance and payment issues, project delays, and safety concerns. She also has significant experience handling sophisticated transactional work, inclusive of drafting and negotiating construction contracts that effectively define roles, responsibilities, rights and obligations with respect to performance, schedule and payment. Further, she counsels her clients on the construction of new buildings, interiors and renovations.
Prior to joining Zetlin & De Chiara, Ms. Carmel was a senior construction litigation associate at a prominent boutique New York-based law firm where she handled complex New York State Labor Law matters, construction disputes arising from issues concerning safety, performance, project delays and payment, and counseled her clients on the construction of new buildings, interiors, and renovations. She was also previously a senior litigation associate at another New York-based law firm, where she practiced construction law and general liability. Early in her career, as a New York Bar Foundation Legal Fellow, Ms. Carmel interned for the Honorable Rita Mella in New York County Surrogate’s Court. In law school, she served as the Editor-in-Chief for the International Law Review, was a Morris C. Fisher Scholarship recipient and was awarded a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Drafting Commercial Documents in the fall of 2014.
Ms. Carmel holds a dual degree from Emory University in Visual Arts and Art History, and a law degree from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro University.
